How many affirmations should you have?

Positive Affirmations Explained…

Prior to delving into the number of positive affirmations, let’s have a quick overview of what they are. Positive affirmations, as discussed here, are statements that help bolster your self-confidence while subduing any feelings of self-doubt. Incorporating daily use of these affirmations can bring about several beneficial outcomes.

Using positive affirmations can be an effective way to raise your self-esteem, boost your mood and attitude, and enable you to reach your goals. It can also help others see you differently and make your relationships more meaningful. In short, this simple practice has the potential to create a multitude of positive changes in our lives.

They have the power to break down our internal barriers and develop trust in oneself that can lead us to achieve the desired success.

How many affirmation do I need?

This same strategy applies to the practice of daily affirmations. It doesn’t matter how many or what type you choose, as long as you start and do it regularly. Even if it’s just one affirmation a day, that’s enough for your mind and body to feel the effect. So don’t get stuck in asking yourself how many affirmations should I use a day, think about getting started so you can experience the power of positive self-talk!

Do not ponder how many affirmations you should say per day; rather, choose two, five, or ten that move you. Start now and do not delay because the thought of affirming a certain amount daily seems too time-consuming in your packed schedule. Utilize affirmations that make sense to you and be willing to adjust and modify them as desired.

For instance, I have placed six affirmation cards above my computer monitor which I look at every day. I used these cards to decide what those particular affirmations would be.

Daily Affirmations…how to use them…

Have a look at the following selection and decide which way of including affirmations in your everyday life best suits you.

 Journaling affirmations

Writing down affirmations is an effective way to embed them in your mind and make them a reality. Begin by selecting a few affirmations and write them down daily.

 Affirmation visualisation

At first, it may seem like the affirmations you are using are not true. That’s okay. Begin to imagine that it has already become a reality as if you were watching yourself in a film. Your subconscious does not know the difference between what is real and what is imagined, so create the image of how you want things to be in your mind and your subconscious will accept it as truth and aid you in making it happen.

Using the right words…

Start your day off with positive affirmations by saying them aloud to yourself in front of a mirror. This can help you create a routine and make it more likely for the affirmations to be ingrained into your brain. However, just saying them isn’t enough – really believe what you are saying and imagine how great it would feel if those things were already true. It may seem fake at first, but if you get into a habit of doing this every morning, such as when brushing your teeth, it will become easier to remember.

Make it believable in simple steps…

If affirming something that seems too far away and unrealistic (for example, “I receive an extra million in my account today”) makes you feel uncomfortable, a more step-by-step approach may help.

Start by aiming for a smaller goal – like affirming that you will receive an additional thousand or hundred dollars today. This affirmation itself won’t magically make the money appear in your bank account, but it might be easier to believe in. And then take action to make this belief into a reality! Breaking down the process into smaller steps can make it feel more attainable and help you create lasting change from within.

Affirmations you create…

It’s totally fine to begin with affirmations that feel true to you, but eventually you might want some more customized statements. You could take your existing ones and modify them a bit or write new ones from scratch – whatever works for you is what matters.

Keep going

Everyone experiences days when their routine is disrupted, and it’s important not to beat yourself up over it. The best thing to do is get back on track as soon as you can and make a habit of sticking to your daily plan, using whatever technique works best for you. If you feel like you don’t have the time, try repeating positive affirmations in your head. Another trick I use is to think the opposite of any negative thoughts that come into my mind; this helps me stay focused and motivated.

And finally…

Once you have released the mental block of feeling like you must have a certain number of affirmations to make things work, start putting your positive affirmations into action. Utilize an implementation strategy and repeat these statements with conviction to make an impact on your subconscious brain. Believe in yourself and allow the power of positive affirmations to show you what is possible. You just may be amazed at how far they can take you!
